Dealing with clients, subcontractors and people in general can be frustrating especially when things don’t go the way we desired.

It is times like these that we need to remember our core values and respond accordingly. Our company’s team members always respond with grace, humility and patience. Instead of raising our tone to the intensity level of the other person, we de-escalate by staying calm.

In today’s culture, written communication like text or email has become a primary way of conveying thoughts or ideas. The following are important to consider:

  • Always respond with a friendly tone

  • Do not come across distasteful or short

  • Consider appropriate punctuation such as “thanks!” or a smile emoji 😄 :)

  • Can my words be misinterpreted?

  • Have I under/over communicated?

  • Is a written response appropriate or is verbal communication better?
